8. Can Gamora Be Saved From Soul World?

What We Know

After Thanos snaps his fingers and half of existence crumbles to dust, there was a strange sequence in which he met Gamora again as a child on a mysterious red-baked version of her home planet. It was all very ethereal and seemed to be some sort of spiritual plane of existence, with the Russos later letting slip that it was set within the Soul Stone.

In a Q&A at Iowa City High School (via TheRealStanLee.com), Joe Russo confirmed as much:

“Yeah, it’s implied that it’s the Soul Stone. It’s all orange around, then [Thanos] is inside the Soul Stone with the amount of power that it took to snap his fingers – he has this out-of-body experience.”

That quote was later clarified somewhat saying Gamora's presence was "a spiritual representation of her."

What We Need To Know

So is she actually in the Soul World? Is that clarification just a means to cover their backs? And if she is indeed physically trapped within the Soul Stone, can she be rescued?

We know there's a strong hint that Gamora returns from set videos and details Zoe Saldana has shared herself, so there's a chance we're going to see exactly that. And the fact that none of the "time travel" leaks have shown Nebula or Rocket might suggest they go on an alternative mission to try and find Gamora as the key to defeating Thanos?
