Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Characters From The Comic Arc Who'll Be Missed

2. Hank Pym

Who Is He? Hank Pym is one of Marvel Earth's most brilliant scientists. He is responsible for the creation of "Pym Particles" - a solution that, when injected, allows the recipient to alter his or her size to either the tiny stature of an ant or the massive stature of a giant. As such, he has adopted superhero names like Ant-Man and Giant-Man. More relevant to this particular story is the fact that he is responsible for the creation of Ultron - indeed, the robot calls him "Daddy". Why He'll Be Missed He's arguably the most important character in the comic book arc. Pym's creation - Ultron - is the main villain who is responsible for the apocalyptic Earth that the heroes try to fix. Wolverine and Sue Storm go back in time in order to kill him so that Ultron is never created in the first place. He opts to put a fail-safe in place so that he can shut Ultron down in the future at any point, but this does not appease Wolverine, who kills him anyway. His death creates a divergent timeline that is no better than the one that his creation of Ultron caused, so Wolverine goes back in time once again to prevent himself from killing Pym. Pym is set to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - portrayed in his older years by the legend that is Michael Douglas - but he will not be in the main body of this movie and will not be responsible for the creation of Ultron in this continuity (though he may well appear in the mid-credits or post-credits scenes).
