Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Key Characters Who Could Die

7. Nick Fury

Why He Could Die: Marvel Studios almost killed the character of Nick Fury off in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, only to wimp out and reveal that he had been saved and his death had been "confirmed" in order to keep him safe. It could go a long way to removing the "they don't have any guts" reputation that this has given them if they do actually go through with it this time. Fury is a key character in the Avengers' history - both in the comic books and on the big screen - but he has played his part now and his affirmation that ordinary people like himself are "hopelessly out-gunned" by the growing number of superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is testament to the fact that he is becoming somewhat redundant - particularly as he is nowhere near as active as the likes of Hawkeye and Black Widow when it comes to actually fighting these threats. Why He Could Live: Samuel L. Jackson has only appeared in five of his contracted nine Marvel Cinematic Universe movies to date so, unless the remaining three movies that he is contracted to after this one all include flashback sequences, it would seem he's not going to die. That said, just because he is obliged to appear in more movies if required doesn't necessarily mean he'll actually be asked to. Likelihood: 5/10. The whole contract issue means this isn't extremely likely, but his previous near-death experience and the fact that he could die and still appear in future movies thanks to Life Model Decoys means there's at least a half chance that Ultron's going to do him in.
