2. Thanos

Thanos is dead. What matters now is working out how many times he dies. The first time he dies has to come early in the movie when the Avengers find him, more vulnerable than he was in Infinity War and without the full power of the Gauntlet. He will die and they will take his damaged Gauntlet back from him before they head into the past to try and work out how to unbreak it.

The second time must come later in the film, because there's just no way the Russos can possibly leave a villain of such clout around when he's so committed to his desire to rebalance the universe. There's no convincing a maniac with a messiah complex.

How He Could Die

Captain Marvel killing him in the first instance makes sense because she's incredibly powerful. In the second, it's harder to say because the second Thanos would presumably be the one from the past with the Infinity Gauntlet fully powered. Maybe Thor could aim for the head this time?

What Might Save Him?

In the comics, Thanos is changed from his course when he realises the errors of his ways, which might offer a form of redemption for him. But it's a slim chance, really.
