Taika Waititi couldn't physically attend the directors' roundtable, so he instead appeared via Skype, with the iPad being hilariously tucked inside a very Waititi-like jacket.

Waititi went into depth about Thor: Ragnarok being influenced by the 80s John Carpenter classic Big Trouble in Little China:

"The pitch that I had was a lot of Big Trouble in Little China, and the thing I loved about that film was Jack Burton. All he wants in that film...is to get his truck back. Something so simple, and all this crazy stuff was going on and I don't even know if you've ever seen this, but someone cobbled together a YouTube video of all the questions Jack Burton asks in Big Trouble In Little China.

It's five minutes long, it's basically every question the audience is asking - 'Who's that? What is this thing? Where are we? What are we doing? Where's my truck? I want my truck back. Who's that guy?' And I thought, 'Yeah with someone who's from outer space, you can't really relate to this rich kid Viking, and you want him to be asking the questions you're asking', and that was the one of the main focuses on that film, was Thor is always on the back foot asking the questions we're asking."

And because it'd be rude not to include it, here's a bonus image of Waititi's digital appearance at the roundtable:
