13. Hawkeye Is On A Mission For It

According to KINGSLAYER_117 on Reddit, Jeremy Renner's underrated hero has a big job in Infinity War, along with some other heroes:

"Hawkeye isn’t in the film because he has gone with Nick Fury, Maria Hill & maybe Ant-Man to search for Captain Marvel, who Fury has known in the past and the whole time pretended she never existed due to something that happened in Captain Marvel (maybe the death of Mar-Vell)."

The theory also says Captain Marvel will be the key, and some have suggested it ties into the rumour that there's a Yakuza sequence in Avengers 4 that will see Hawkeye take the lead.

On top of that, the Russos have confirmed that Hawkeye is "on his own journey" in Infinity War, making over-enthusiastic interpreters suggest that meant an actual mission.

Nope, it's not happening. As the prelude comic for Infinity War established, Hawkeye is retired having decided to spend time with his family. He's not coming back into the game until he's forced to, and the idea that he'd be sent on a mission ALONE to retrieve an Infinity Stone is absolutely ludicrous.
