Despite all the hate and the abuse that Ben Affleck received when Warner Bros. first came out and said: "We have decided that our new Batman is the guy who played Daredevil," he is - without question - the best thing about Zack Snyder's controversial film. Whilst many people were worried that Affleck would ruin the movie with his bad acting and his bad vibes and his bad, you know, everything, he delivers the most humane performance in the movie; bitter and twisted from twenty years of fighting crime in Gotham, he's poised as more of an anti-hero in Batman v Superman (and isn't afraid to kill people, apparently). This Batman on the edge is thrilling to watch, even when the rest of the film isn't; Affleck fits the character in a natural, near effortless way that none of the other actors who have taken on the role thus far have. Even when he's not speaking a line of dialogue, he conveys pain and bitterness with facial expressions that really emphasise his state of mind. Batman v Superman is at its most interesting when Ben Affleck is around, then, and even though he's not the perfect Batman, he's probably the best incarnation of the character to have been put to the silver screen. Don't take the reviews to heart, Ben: you did it. Like this article? Would you agree with this order, or have we got things completely wrong?
