Batman vs Superman Movie: 10 Choices For Recasting Commissioner Gordon

5. The Moustache Wearing Commissioner: Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck Looks are important, and Gordon has had a fixed look for a long time, so it's important to cast someone who fits the bill. Chief amongst the attributes needed is the ability to wear a moustache that screams credibility. Too much and you end up looking like Freddie Mercury, too little and you get The Artist. In terms of great moustaches, one face stands out from the crowd. As Magnum, P.I., Tom Selleck redefined what it meant to wear a moustache, and his signature look would be perfect for Jim Gordon. Of course, there's more to him than just looks, and Selleck would bring a very different style to a Batman vs Superman film, acting more in a supporting role to lighten proceedings in what could otherwise be a grim and gritty beat 'em up. If there was one complaint about Man of Steel, it was that it was too dark a Superman story, seemingly almost ashamed to embrace the lighter side of the DC universe. Whilst wanting to avoid the camp of '60s TV Batman, or the neon gaudiness of Burton's take, introducing a more balanced tone wouldn't be a bad thing. Selleck would be an easy way to show that things weren't being taken quite as seriously, and maybe even bring in a wider audience than just the fanboys.
