5. Jon Hamm

Mad Men star Jon Hamm is another name who's been touted for the role of Batman, despite being great friends with Ben Affleck. There's no doubting that he specialises in cutthroat, no-nonsense characters, but Hamm's also capable of tragedy and soul-searching; he's extremely versatile, a huge authority figure, and would be a massive contrast to Christian Bale. Hamm may have called the franchise "a young man's game", but that's even more reason to watch him opposite Cavill; there would be a gripping contradiction between the young farmboy struggling with his gifts, and the wiser city playboy. Hamm would be perfect in that respect. He's a favourite with many fans, and has in the past, even been mentioned in relation to playing an older Superman. Cast him in the film one way or another: he would be excellent.
