9. Afflicted
Credit to filmmakers Derek Lee and Clif Prowse for managing to deliver an innovative entry into both the found footage and vampire subgenres all at once with their brilliant 2013 film Afflicted.
Lee and Prowse star as fictional versions of themselves who travel the world recording a web series, only for Derek to become infected with vampirism in Barcelona after which all fresh heck breaks loose.
Found footage films were of course a dime a dozen in the early 2010s - perhaps why Afflicted has flown so below the radar - but very few have been pulled off with this level of technical polish and ingenuity.
Despite having a budget of just $300,000, Afflicted shames studio-backed found footage movies made for many times that figure, pulling off some jaw-dropping "How did they get the camera there?" feats you'll want to watch again and again.
Beyond that it's also unlike any other vampire movie out there, and the performances from Lee and Prowse are tremendously entertaining.
Yet Afflicted hasn't even registered as a blip in the horror canon, which is possibly why we haven't seen the duo re-enter the genre in the 13 years since.
