Birds Of Prey - Every Character Explained

Even for Gotham, Victor Zsasz is twisted. He's one of two central villains in the movie, though the trailer and general marketing so far do appear to indicate that he's playing second fiddle a bit. Still, he's actually the sort of character who shines in smaller doses, so that might be for the best.

That's not supposed to be a backhanded complement to Zsasz; he's a terrific character, and could carry the lead villain role on his own. He's just so deranged that any prolonged focus on him might dilute him slightly. As things stand, he's being set up as a scene stealer.

Chris Messina might not originally leap to mind for a role of those requirements, but in the small doses of Zsasz dished out so far, he seems to be doing a fantastic job.

Zsasz was once a wealthy man, but loses his fortune: a fate he shares with main villain Black Mask. While Black Mask loses his money in business though, Zsasz gambles his away in a deep depression following his parents' death.

From here, he becomes a sick and cruel serial killer, carving lines on his body to denote the lives he's taken. He's already scarred in the trailer too...
