Black Panther Trailer Reactions: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

3. It Spoils Very Little

In the age of spoilerific trailers (which is something Marvel themselves have been guilty of very recently), any teaser that sticks to establishing mood and building hype without completing showing off its story wares earns special mention. And thankfully, there's not a great deal really spoiled by Black Panther's first trailer.

We do get a fairly broad picture of what we'll see: T'Challa facing insurrection and challenges to his fledgling reign as the leader of Wakanda, as well as hints at him and the Dora Milaje leaving their home for at least one action-heavy set-piece. There's also the question of Ulysses Klaue's involvement, and the underlying current of Bucky's story and the establishment of T'Challa's personal relationships with the likes of love interest Nakia (Lupita N'Yongo).

But the key here is that there are more questions than there are answers: we aren't spoon-fed absolutely every story beat, and are instead given scraps to build appetite. And that's an unfortunately dying art.
