Why he should be considered: Nicolas Winding Refn is a master of visual tone and color. Drive introduced him to a whole new audience and its easy to see why: the stylish compositions, camera movements and concentrated bits of action melded perfectly with the musical score that provided a heightened sense of cinema. He helped to transcend the material he was given, which is no easy feat for any director. If given the chance, I know Refn could really spice up a Bond film with a mood that the series has not seen before, likely heavy in atmosphere and more visceral that what we have come to expect.
