Why he should be considered: If you have seen one of Gaspar Noe€™s films, you are either thinking €œYes yes yes!€ or €œWhy, God, why?!€. Most viewers probably best remember Gaspar€™s films for their brutal violence or extremely frank sexuality. Beneath all of that, though, is a ton of beauty that is easy to forget. Although Irreversible begins as a crazy voyeuristic adrenaline rush that opens with a man getting his skull caved in with a fire extinguisher, the film ends with a scene that is poetic, delicate, and full of life:

He knows how to convey primal human emotion from all ends of the spectrum and that€™s what movies boil down to at the end of the day.
