Why he should be considered: If you have seen one of Gaspar Noes films, you are either thinking Yes yes yes! or Why, God, why?!. Most viewers probably best remember Gaspars films for their brutal violence or extremely frank sexuality. Beneath all of that, though, is a ton of beauty that is easy to forget. Although Irreversible begins as a crazy voyeuristic adrenaline rush that opens with a man getting his skull caved in with a fire extinguisher, the film ends with a scene that is poetic, delicate, and full of life:
He knows how to convey primal human emotion from all ends of the spectrum and thats what movies boil down to at the end of the day.
