Bond 24: 10 Visionary Directors To Shake Up The Franchise

4. Lars Von Trier

Lars-Von-Trier

Known for: Antichrist, Melancholia, Dancer in the Dark

Why he should be considered: Lars has an uncanny ability to convey the visions in his head, which includes some pretty demented ones, sometimes. From the beginning, he created films that exhibited unique visual flourishes; one of his early films, The Element of Crime, was a sepia-toned fever dream brought to life. But, if you watch one of his more recent features (like Melancholia or Antichrist) your face will be smashed with a baseball bat of searing emotion. Lars von Trier could bring a some really brutal sentiment into a Bond film along with some psychological depth to help humanize Britain€™s favorite killing machine.
