4. Gosling Should Die At The End
It seemed to me that at the end of Drive, Gosling's character probably should have died; instead he speeds off into the sunset, albeit wounded from his final confrontation with Albert Brooks' villain, and it's left ambiguous as to whether he actually survived his injuries. Only God Forgives seems to pose a far more dangerous scenario for Julian, though; he's in a foreign, unfamiliar land, and up against not the mob, but the arm of the law, probably the only organisation more dangerous than gangsters - and unlike our cops, they seem to take a liking to samurai swords. This all seems like a pretty sticky situation for Julian to get out of alive, and wouldn't it be both poignant and ironic if he went to his death avenging his brother, so that Jenna is left with no sons at all? My money's on it; we'll just have to wait and see.
