Cannes 2013 - Only God Forgives: 8 Ways It Could Live Up To Drive

3. Cliff Martinez's Score

One of my favourite things about Drive is that it introduced me to the musical genius that is Cliff Martinez; though much of our attention was drawn towards Refn's musical selections for the film (namely "Nightcall" and "A Real Hero"), Martinez's original score helped give the film an ethereal flavour quite unlike anything else. Since then, he has composed memorable scores for films like Contagion, Spring Breakers and now, Only God Forgives. Going by what we've heard in the trailer so far, Martinez mixes his signature 80s synth-pop sound with some truly ominous organs, and intense drum beating. The soundtrack isn't released in France until late-May, but from what we've already heard, I can't wait to get my hands on it.
