Captain America: Civil War - 10 Great Comic Moments We Won’t Get To See
1. Spider-Man Unmasks
The Great Moment: Wanting to turn the tides in favour of more superhumans registering, Spider-Man unmasks himself on live TV, declaring to the world that he is Peter Parker, effectively sacrificing his private identity and upending years of comic book history.
Why We Won’t Get To See It: For one, there’s no stake in his identity. Spider-Man is not yet a known commodity in the MCU, so him revealing himself wouldn’t have any sort of emotional resonance. It's been said he'll only have been active for a year, so such an act to the public just wouldn't have the same impact that it did in the comics.
More than that, an unmasked Spider-Man would cause a lot of problems for Homecoming and any future films with him. The proposed high school, coming-of-age drama just wouldn’t be feasible if everyone knew he was actually Spider-Man. That sort of plot development would be a nightmare to build stories around.
So while this marked a huge point in Spider-Man's history, maybe it's best in this case that he just sticks to being an amusing and faithful supporting character.
Do you still think we’ll see any of these? What are you going to miss from the comic? Let us know in the comments.
