Captain America Civil War: Predicting The Entire Plot In 10 Steps

8. Spider-Man's Arrival And Unmasking, Intercut With Cap's Vigilantism

At this point, Cap and Falcon may decide to follow up on that Bucky-locating lead that Crossbones gave them, but initially they won€™t find Cap's long lost friend. They could infiltrate a HYDRA base or two, and pound down on some evil operatives to try and find more information. This is ground-level vigilantism at it€™s grittiest, and Cap doesn€™t have sanctioned permission to do it. To contrast with this, I think Tom Holland€™s Spider-Man will make his big debut here. Bright and colourful, Spidey is a superhero in the light and everything that Cap currently isn€™t. In a jarringly different tone to what Cap is up to, Spider-Man will be dispensing quips, taking down a cheesy supervillain and earning adoration from the public. Cut back to Cap €“ perhaps now he€™s worked his way up to current HYDRA head Baron Zemo, and is angrily trying to extract information about his long-lost friend. Maybe he€™ll be aggressively interrogating him, at the end of his tether and pent up with frustration. Zemo lets slip that HYDRA has something big cooking, and that it involves Bucky. And back to Spidey €“ some time has passed, and now he€™s officially aligned with the government. While Cap skulks in the shadows, Spider-Man has become the poster boy for government-controlled superheroes. There will be a big event to publicly unveil this new Spidey/government allegiance, and Peter may even unmask on live TV to show how serious he is about transparency (allowing the Russos to recreate an iconic moment from the comics).
