4. He Might Be Tony Stark's Secret Weapon

Spider-Man's sudden arrival in the midst of this battle is hard to put into context without seeing the movie, but it appears to take place after The Avengers have already exchanged blows. In fact, Captain America is seemingly all alone and surrounded by Iron Man, War Machine, and Black Widow, and that makes me think he calls in the young hero almost as a last resort to web up Steve Rogers in an attempt to take him in. If I'm right, that opens the door to a new list of questions. Does Captain America have any idea who Spider-Man is? Why does Iron Man think it's ok to drag a kid into this conflict? Just how much of a role does Spidey have in this 15 minute IMAX shot sequence? Regardless of the answers, I'd say it's fairly obvious that the fact Tony utilises the hero here points to Spider-Man making more than just a brief cameo appearance.
