This film has been a long time coming. Not only the solo Marvel superhero film fronted by a female character - something audiences have been clamouring for since Scarlett Johansson totally stole the show as badass Russian spy Black Widow in Iron Man 2 - but a Captain Marvel film in particular. Even since Kelly Sue's taking of the comic book reins (right around the time the Marvel Cinematic Universe started picking up the pace) there's been rumblings that the character is ripe for a movie adaptation. And ever since that decision was made, the fandom seemed to come to a fairly swift consensus about who should play Carol Danvers: Katee Sackhoff, better known to geeks as Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica. Like the recent, good Battlestar Galactica, not the one from the seventies that cost loads of money and nobody watched. Sackhoff would indeed be perfect casting: she has the right look, is used to the sci-fi thing, and Starbuck had a similarly self-destructive character arc as Carol. You know it makes sense, Marvel.
