Chevy Chase: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

...And 5 That Sucked

5. Emmett Fitz-Hume €“ Spies Like Us (1985)

If you have made a movie that Family Guy considers worthy of an episode-long parody, it probably means that A. You've made a film that culturally relevant enough for the myopic writers of Family Guy to consider targeting, and B. You probably didn't make a very good movie. Even despite teaming with fellow SNL funnyman and Ghostbusters mastermind Dan Aykroyd didn't save this Chase dud. You're probably better off with the Leslie Nielsen espionage spoof Spy Hard, and that's saying something, since the only good part of that is the Weird Al theme song over the opening credits. Spies Like Us, meanwhile, had a terrible theme song from Paul McCartney, another of the supposedly talented people on board. An American Werewolf In London director John Landis couldn't even save this travesty, a homage to the Road To...films starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour, which managed neither the wit, wisdom or heart of those comedy classics. Chase hams it up in a manner ill befitting his early successes.
