Following on from performances in Sicario and Avengers: Infinity War, it looks as though Josh Brolin is making a name for himself by playing grizzled, nasty men (purple or otherwise). Cable isn't the exception - ignoring the event of a potentially heroic arc - and as was the case with those other performances, the actor is being lavished with praise.
Marvel's very own Zac Thompson, who's actually writing the current Cable comic, made a point of focussing on the time-travelling mutant in particular. Calling Brolin's performance "outstanding", Thompson also paid homage to Robert Liefeld, the architect of the character's formative years.
Liefeld in particular was also effusive in his praise, hailing the film as a "dream come true moment."

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
