3. Wong
As wonderful as it would be to see Nick Fury return for Deadpool 3, and to interact with both the Merc with the Mouth and Wolverine, the character plays a different role in the franchise to what he did 14 years ago.
It seems that in Phase Four, a new man has emerged as the one with ties to a wide span of heroes and could potentially bring together a new team of Avengers for The Kang Dynasty. While Fury has been off-world, the man who has stepped up is Wong.
He has already made the acquaintance of Shang-Chi and Jennifer Walters, as well as keeping strong ties to Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Bruce Banner, and Carol Danvers, and if there are plans to keep Deadpool around after his third solo movie, Wong’s involvement may be paramount.
Aside from sowing the seeds of a future team-up, Wong would be a fantastic addition to the movie itself. In She-Hulk, Benedict Wong has shown just how good his comedic acting chops are, and any reason to show them off in the future is good enough for this writer.
Put him opposite Ryan Reynolds and you have comedy gold.
