Disney+: 10 Original Movies We Want To See
5. A Tinker Bell Movie
Tinker Bell has actually had her fair share of movies, but they’ve all been direct-to-DVD efforts as part of the Disney Fairies series. She originally received four, one based around each season, but their popularity was so great it became a mini franchise on its own.
Another two movies plus a TV spin-off, six video games and even attractions at the California and Hong Kong Disney parks; Tinker Bell has become an unofficial mascot for Disney’s youngest viewers. Her massive success (not to mention the array of hugely profitable toys) more than justify the decision, but it does have its drawbacks.
While Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty & The Beast (or whichever Disney movies were out when you were younger) each have a timeless feel, Tinker Bell is most definitely for the littlest of kids. By the age of 12 she’s been outgrown by most fans; perhaps Disney+ can bridge the gap.
Including some of the most popular Fairies but giving Tink her Peter Pan attitude back could ensnare more of the audience, especially as she’s one of the few characters recognisable across the generations for different reasons.
She’s quietly built up a reputation as one of their most bankable names.
