Disney+: 10 Original Movies We Want To See

4. An Obi Wan Movie

The Solo movie was a definite disappointment for Star Wars, but Disney would be fools to back away from Star Wars spin-offs completely. While not focussed on a popular character’s backstory, Rogue One still exists outside of the main series arc and is many fans’ favourite since the original trilogy.

Solo had a huge marketing effort, but too much of that was focussed an Alden Ehrenreich; a decent actor but so far removed from the attitude Harrison Ford gave the character. Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson all did a better job of filling seats than Ehrenreich.

Solo looks to have been one of those rare cases where over saturation actually pushes fans away. There’s definite intrigue in finding out Solo’s past; he frequently finishes in the top five when discussing greatest movie characters ever.

He may be scorched earth now, but the Star Wars universe has plenty more characters to choose from. Without needing heavy marketing, an Obi Wan movie could correct Solo’s mistakes. Obi Wan is wise but witty, disciplined but deadly, pure but passionate.

A movie detailing what happened between the prequels and original trilogies could revitalise the spin-offs; Ewan McGregor could even reprise his role.
