These days, it seems like the newest and most revolutionary technology trend taking over the world is virtual reality: placing a headset on and gazing into a screen which brilliantly simulates a three-hundred and sixty degree environment. How this technology will effect new theme park rides going forward is exciting to think about, and Star Wars Land seems the perfect fit to experiment with it.

When you think of the word “headset” alongside the words “Star Wars”, it conjures up images of one of Star Wars most famous scenes, and also one of its earliest: Luke Skywalker training with his lightsaber while wearing an obscured pilot helmet. VR in combination with motion technology (think something like the Nintendo Wiimote or Playstation's Move) could make for the most realistic Jedi experience the world has seen yet.

Imagine a dozen people stepping into individual booths, putting on headsets and picking up their “lightsaber”. After a couple minutes of individual training, everyone could enter the same battle at the end, competing to see who can get the most points by deflecting shots and cutting down droids. The ride could even show the prequels some love by using the Jedi-filled battle at the close of Attack Of The Clones as visual guidance.
