Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 10 Rumours That Could Change Everything
4. Nightmare Will Be Played By Eva Green
Even as far back as Doctor Strange's original release in 2016, there were two characters introduced to the MCU that had the potential to become the villain for the sequel five years later. Mordo turned heel during the post credits scene, claiming there were already too many sorcerers in the world, and since Dormammu wasn't killed, he will always be a potential threat in the future.
Marvel Studios however, are seemingly going in a different direction with regards to the main antagonist for the 2021 movie. While Mordo will certainly appear, possibly as an unlikely ally of Strange, the big bad of the movie will be Nightmare.
The character is a demon and classic Doctor Strange villain, who Marvel Studios are reportedly looking to bring to the Multiverse of Madness. Though they are supposed to have looked at major talent like Emily Blunt, Natalie Dormer, James McAvoy, and Cillian Murphy for the role, Penny Dreadful star Eva Green appears to be the front runner.
Though she has denied being contacted by Marvel, there is not much to take from this, as she isn't exactly going to let anything slip if Kevin Feige doesn't want her to. She's not Mark Ruffalo. This would be a very interesting, gender swapped take on a dark, sinister character, portrayed by a wonderfully talented actress.
