Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 10 Rumours That Could Change Everything
3. It Will Introduce The MCU's Next Big Bad
Ever since Thanos' demise at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, thoughts immediately went to who could possibly follow in the Mad Titan's footsteps. Marvel seemingly struck gold with the strategy of building a villain in the background for several years, and all expectations are that they will do it again.
According to this rumour, the next big bad of the franchise will be introduced to the MCU in the Multiverse of Madness in 2021. Names like Doctor Doom, Galactus, Kang the Conqueror, and even Namor have all been mentioned as the potential new over-arcing antagonist, and while Nightmare will be the main villain for Doctor Strange, she won't necessarily be the new big bad.
While Eva Green could absolutely portray the demon as a monstrous villain worth the time and attention of the entire MCU, this follows the same pattern from Avengers Assemble. Loki was the main villain of the movie, but we were also introduced to Thanos as the big bad in the background.
Again, Dormammu would be a perfect fit for this role, as he is certainly still out there somewhere, and would be more than comfortable in another Doctor Strange movie. However, it would be a huge disappointment if Marvel didn't introduce one of the two biggest villainous names they have just got back from Fox as the next big threat.
