This was the Multiverse of Madness, so of course there was more than just one version of Doctor Strange on show. The Strange with America at the beginning of the movie, the corrupted Strange who guarded the Darkhold, and Strange-838 were all compelling enough, but this was our Doctor Strange’s movie.

Throughout the 28th entry in the MCU, Stephen was told several times by the likes of Christine Palmer and America Chavez that all Stephen Stranges were the same. However, he showed throughout his battle with Wanda that they were wrong.

There was more to this Strange than most others across the universe, in terms of compassion and emotional intelligence, even if he did blow it with Christine. This was arguably the deepest his character has been explored outside of coping with his injuries, learning the mystic arts in the first place, or defending the Time Stone.

That being said however, he is still an incredibly skilled sorcerer, and on display across the multiverse were some powers and abilities that were simply mind-blowingly entertaining. He has become a staple of the MCU really since Infinity War, and this was yet another opportunity to show off Benedict Cumberbatch’s character as one of the very best.
