Every 2016 Disney Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

3. The Jungle Book

Doctor Strange Cumberbatch
Disney

Rotten Tomatoes: 94%

2016 hasn’t exactly been a good year for remakes with the new Cabin Fever, Ben-Hur and The Magnificent Seven all proving that some films are better left well alone. But if there was one person that proved the remake could be done right it was actor-director Jon Favreau and his new take on Disney classic The Jungle Book. Part live-action and part CGI-animated, it’s a fresh and magical take on the original and thanks to its stunningly realistic visuals and talented voice cast – including Bill Murray as Baloo, Idris Elba as Shere Khan and Christopher Walken as a supersized version of King Louie crossed with Apocalypse Now’s Colonel Lutz – the original’s much-loved characters are brilliantly brought to life.

It’s so good, in fact, that some critics have even hailed it an improvement on the original film and it’s already made the shortlist as a contender for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the Oscars in February.
