Every Ben Affleck Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
31. Jersey Girl (2004)
According to some quarters of the Internet, Jersey Girl is basically a Gigli-level disaster, which isn't nearly the case.
It's certainly strange to see Kevin Smith directing a snotty-nosed, earnest romantic comedy like this, but it's really not that bad, if certainly excessively sentimental.
Affleck plays Ollie Trinké, a man whose wife (Jennifer Lopez) dies while giving birth to their daughter, with Ollie slowly learning to face up to his parental responsibilities while finding love with his new girlfriend (Liv Tyler).
There's nothing remotely surprising about this, beyond Smith playing the premise totally straight and keeping his more irreverent antics almost totally cloistered away.
It's sweet and never less than completely fine, but still an absolute oddity in the careers of both Smith and Affleck.
