Every Ben Affleck Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

27. Armageddon (1998)

Ben Affleck Gone Girl Batman v Superman Pearl Harbor
Buena Vista Pictures

The absolute peak of Michael Bay's melodramatic action-heavy cheese-fests, Armageddon is also the only Bay film to have its own hallowed place in the Criterion Collection, so make of that what you will.

Not a single living person would call Armageddon a genuinely good piece of art, but it sure is entertaining all the same.

Taking its inherently loony space-drillers premise and literally flying it out of the stratosphere, Bay was the perfect director at the perfect time of his career to deliver something this proudly junky, corny, and downright enjoyable.

A wealth of credit goes to both Bay's mouth-watering visuals and the earnest efforts of the cast, who somehow fire this thing through with a straight face.

You'll hate yourself for crying at the end when Bruce dies, but you will cry.
