Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best
10. On Her Majesty's Secret Service Theme By John Barry
The decision by Sean Connery to leave the role of James Bond was quite a shock at the time and was matched by the equally surprising decision of handing the role to no name Aussie George Lazenby. While the continuity of the franchise remained despite the change in actors, it was decided that a new theme would be used for the title sequence of Lazenby's first and ultimately only take on the role.
The John Barry Orchestra once more produce a wonderful number, a more modern sounding piece that still utilises the brass section to bring a needed sense of grandeur. Like the film it was created for, the instrumental is an underrated gem, a real toe tapper that had the audience pumped up for a new Bond adventure. The theme's greatest achievement was in sounding epic and foreboding in equal measure.
A customary Bond theme song was also written for the film, with Louis Armstrong performing a song titled All the time in the world. The song was more resembling of a melancholic tune you'd hear at a funeral than a 007 theme, but considering the stunning concluding scene of the film in which Bond's wife is murdered, it was actually quite fitting.
