Every Disney Animated Movie Since 2000 - Ranked
7. Winnie The Pooh
Many of Disney's animated releases in the 21st century tried to bridge the gap between the classic Disney movies of old and the new pace in animation being set by the likes of Pixar. Winnie The Pooh sets itself apart with a different kind of sweet-tasting nostalgia for an era long since passed.
Based on the books of A. A. Milne, who wrote the Winnie-The-Pooh stories way back in the 1920s, Disney's Winnie The Pooh is their fifth movie based on the series and arguably their most charming yet. It's hard to go wrong with a character as lovable as Pooh and here they fully succeed in capturing the warmth and affection felt by fans of his adventures.
There's little in the way of bombastic action here; rather, a series of low key but adorable incidents drive the film forwards, beautifully animated to a backdrop of subtle watercolour paintings which recall the simplistic yet highly effective style later employed by Isao Takahata in his final Ghibli film, The Tale Of Princess Kaguya.
