Every Evil Dead Movie Ranked Worst To Best

Seeing one of your favourite movie franchises returning after years of inactivity is always stressful. Evil Dead fans were lucky enough to have made it through the 2013 redo okay, but they had to experience the same anxiety ten years later. Thankfully, it worked out alright!

Evil Dead Rise follows a small family forced to contend with the Deadites after the mother is possessed. The first thing to note is that it's a bloody film! You'll see all sorts of depraved stuff here, like a cheese grater on a leg, folks eating glass, and even an elevator scene that makes The Shining look like child's play -- as in, the phrase, not the Chucky movies.

But Rise isn't just another gorefest; it also made some big changes to the formula without altering too much. For example, like Army of Darkness, it's not set in a cabin in the woods. The traditional setting is swapped out for an LA apartment complex, and this new location works perfectly as it ties a contemporary sting to the Deadite threat.

The movie also tugs at the heartstrings, as rather than a group of friends, it focuses on an unwilling mother attacking her children. Seeing this vulgar brutality performed on kids is disturbing enough, but watching them have to accept their mother's death simultaneously is diabolical.
