Every Halloween Movie Ranked Worst To Best After Halloween Kills
7. Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers (1988)
Half a decade after Season of the Witch, it was agreed that Michael Myers needed to be brought back to the big screen, which is what happened with the unimaginatively titled Return of Michael Myers.
The downside to this grand return was that no one wanted anything to do with it, so director Dwight Little was forced to work the unstoppable killing machine into a new story far removed from Laurie and the creative influence of John Carpenter.
This sounds worse than it is, mind, because Little actually manages to find a great amount of creepiness and terror in the story. Myers spends most of the film obscured by darkness, particularly in its final act, and the set pieces work wonders to create an air of trepidation around his return.
It's not particularly original, and it lacks the emotional weight of Laurie Strode, but The Return of Michael Myers remains a decent slasher that works well with what it has. And at least for now, Halloween hasn't gone totally off the rails.
