The Force Awakens was the most anticipated film... well, ever. To the surprise of no-one, it's currently the third highest-grossing film of all time but is it actually good? The thought of repeating the trauma of the prequels is a terrifying one, but luckily the film we ended up getting was a truly awesome experience.
Now that the dust has settled, it's safe to say it's still a great watch. The Force Awakens does have glaring issues; that Death Star planet thingy was a huge mistake, it's A New Hope remixed and is something of a safe nostalgia-fest, so let's call it the best nostalgia-fest of all time. Thanks to all the great action, terrific new characters and emotionally gripping story, TFA is a truly awesome blockbuster and one of the best Star Wars films to date.
Inevitably it's faced some backlash, but overall it's still a highly worthy return to a galaxy far, far away.
