The cross-over movie was one of the biggest gambles a studio had ever made at the time and it could have gone horribly wrong. That's terrifying enough to keep you up at night, since not only was this the superhero movie fans had always dreamed of but without this our beloved MCU wouldn't have taken off in the same way. Luckily, it paid off extremely well.

Featuring all the iconic characters brought to three-dimensional life, populated by brilliant actors, given a fantastic screenplay and placed in the center of some insanely fun set-pieces, this movie really was a dream come true. Admittedly the story is nothing special, but as an exercise in escapism it doesn't get much more delightful than this.

Even now it's still just as funny, thrilling and jaw-dropping as ever and it remains one of the best films in the MCU.
