Every Highest Grossing Film Since 2000 Ranked
2. The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
Year: 2002
Rest Of The Top Ten:
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Spider-Man, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Men in Black II, Die Another Day, Signs, Ice Age, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Minority Report.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, taken together, are probably the best films of the 2000s. They have everything: great characters, flawless visuals, amazing directing, rich storytelling and a perfect mixture of style and substance. This might be the only trilogy that deserves a 10/10 score for all 3 films, making them a cinematic hat-trick if there ever was one.
The Two Towers carries on the journey with very few missteps. This is the weakest of the three due to occasional pacing problems but something of this quality would probably be the best film in most other modern franchises. Besides, it offers some major highlights for the series; the Battle of Helm's Deep is still glorious to behold while Andy Serkis' Gollum is the best character - and performance - of the entire series.
Both exhilarating and emotionally breath-taking, this is an unusually rich modern blockbuster and a cinematic bull's eye.
