Every James Bond Girl Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Elektra King - The World Is Not Enough
Elektra King (Sophie Marceau) is not only one of the best Bond Girls of all time, but she's one of the best Bond villains of all time too.
At first, King seems like the innocent victim of Renard (Robert Carlyle), a terrorist and at first, viewers will really feel for her. Bond, who is protecting her, certainly does and they end up sleeping together.
But then, what is quite possibly the best Bond plot twist to date is dropped: Elektra's the real villain and Renard is actually working for her. King is quickly established as a wickedly evil, psychologically fascinating and brilliantly-written villain who Marceau plays with a note-perfect mixture of charm and sinister menace.
King is one seriously sick individual - she murders scores of innocent people, including her own father, and plans to kill millions just to monopolize the oil market - and she'll leave viewers feeling just as rattled as she left Bond, especially during the superb scene in which she tortures him, and she's so unsettling that it's a relief when she exits the film. Indeed, Bond has rarely looked more glad to have killed a villain.
Whatever viewers think of this divisive (and arguably underrated) instalment of the franchise, one thing's for sure: Elektra King absolutely rocks, and is easily its single biggest asset.
