Every MCU Dad - Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Hank Pym

Avengers Infinity War Thanos Gamora
Marvel Studios

Hank Pym has some darker turns in the comic; although allegedly the infamous domestic abuse panel where he hits his wife came about as a result of miscommunication between artist and writer.

Regardless, this is conveniently left out of the movies, where Hank is depicted as a caring but slightly cuckoo father to Hope Van Dyne, who becomes the Wasp as the movies develop.

Despite the title of Ant-Man And The Wasp, the second Ant-Man movie is still Scott’s film. We don’t see much of Hank and Hope evading the law together, unless Scott’s involved too. It’s a shame though, because in the short scenes we get you can tell they’re really close.

Though you can understand that Hank goes to Scott because he wants to keep Hope safe (given what happened to Janet), it’s clear Hope is a character who craves approval. Hank deliberately withholds this at times to help her get better with her training.

He’s also reluctant to throw her into action way after he knows she’s ready for it. Being both a coach and a dad is hard, but sometimes he leans a little too much to either side with it.
