We don’t see a great deal of T’Chaka as a father, at least while he’s alive, but it’s enough to know he has a massive influence on his son, T’Challa.

We don’t see his relationship with Shuri, but considering she’s thriving as a young girl in STEM, it seems he’s done a brilliant job. Then again, there’s nothing to suggest STEM is more frequented by men in Wakanda as it is in the West, but Shuri seems to be very well raised all around.

So too does T’Challa, who has inherited his father’s mental strength, grace on the throne and morality. T’Challa disagrees with his father’s isolationist policies, but political disagreements, especially when both sides are acting in good faith, should not undermine T’Chaka’s positives as a father.

In fact, that T’Chaka was willing to make such bold steps suggests he was raised to be a decisive and courageous leader in the first place.

Had we gotten to see more of him, especially alive and balancing leadership duties not as an at peace vision, he might have finished even higher. Limited screen time keeps him in fifth, but that’s pretty good going when held up with the top four.
