Every MCU Director Ranked Worst To Best

10. Joe Johnston

Thor Ragnarok Taika Waititi
Marvel Studios

Directed:

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

Jumanji director Joe Johnston was not blessed with one of the better MCU films, but he himself added quite a lot to it. Released at the height of the insufferable 3D craze, this one actually used 3D rather well (such as the shot in which Steve Rogers brings the flag-pole down) and Johnston managed to bring plenty of punchy intensity to the film's retro set-pieces.

Joe Johnston hasn't returned to the MCU and doesn't appear to be planning any sort of return, but if he did that would be no bad thing. He is a veteran of blockbuster directing and while his direction of The First Avenger was a little workmanlike, it was still overall good and managed to avoid being visually uninteresting.

Judging by Joe Johnston's solid work on The First Avenger, the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia reboot is in good hands.
