Every Pixar Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
7. The Incredibles
Looking back at The Incredibles almost 20 years later, Brad Bird's superhero family comedy feels so impressively ahead of its time, in deconstructing superhero movie tropes years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe made them the most popular game in town.
A richly character-driven and at times surprisingly grim story, The Incredibles deconstructs its focal genre with intelligence, great humour, and genuine dramatic pathos.
Fronted by a superb cast of characters and one of Pixar's all-time best villains in Syndrome (Jason Lee), it's a film that fleets breathlessly from one scene to the next yet without ever feeling rushed.
Superhero movies as a whole could still learn a lot from The Incredibles, which delivers a humourous, deftly woven story packed to the gills with action in less than two hours. Imagine that.
Also don't sleep on Michael Giacchino's outstanding, James Bond-inspired musical score, which ranks among Pixar's very finest to date.
