Every Saw Movie Ending Ranked Worst To Best

7. Saw III

Spiral from the Book of Saw Chris Rock
Lionsgate

The End: Amanda fails her test and dies, Jeff kills Jigsaw and unintentionally kills his wife too.

This is one ending that'll leave most viewers booing at the screen.

Saw III's ultra-downbeat ending is just miserable to watch and the entire thing is shock for shock's sake in the worst way. Lynn (Bahar Soomekh) and Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) deaths don't feel earned at all and make the whole film feel like a waste of time - it put us through nearly two hours of violence just for everyone to fail at the end? Urgh!

Amanda's (Shawnee Smith) downfall - Jeff (Angus Macfadyen) shoots Amanda after she shoots his wife, so her violent ways lead her to her doom - mostly works in fairness and her ending felt right.

Unfortunately, the reason she shot Lynn - she was blackmailed by Hoffman - is only revealed in Saw VI (which came out three years later), so this plot development feels underdeveloped in hindsight.

This unsatisfying conclusion only makes you feel angrier when a great-sounding scene - in which Jigsaw emotionally realized that he has always been the bad guy - was inexplicably cut out. That would've been an amazing ending for one of horror's greatest killers.
