18. The Running Man (1987)
Amongst the rabid dogs, haunted hotels, tortured writers and vampires, King (or should I say, Richard Bachman) released a novel called "The Running Man," a sci-fi action-thriller he casually wrote in just one week. Because he felt like it, I guess.
Neither the book nor the film will be remembered as high art, but the pure adrenaline the story boasts both on the page and on the screen is too exciting to deny, full of striking imagery, timely political statements, and booming action sequences.
It's also Arnie at his heroic best, taking on fascism and looking fresh in his iconic golden jumpsuit whilst doing it. Sometimes that's all you need.
