Every X-Men Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Deadpool 2
Deadpool 2 could have been an extremely problematic movie for Fox given the pressures to out-do the first movie and turn everything up a notch without straying into Minions territory (the curious trope where one element is pushed in a sequel to the reduction of everything else). There was also a few whispers of poor early reception and unhappiness at the departure of Tim Miller (who worked as hard as Ryan Reynolds to get the first movie off the ground).
But it all proved to be smoke on the wind. The sequel is a fantastic achievement in escalation, with great new characters, better gags, a better script and a progression for the central character that adds complexity and depth without ever betraying what makes him so iconic in the first place.
The surprises comes as thick and as fast as the gags and it's the kind of infectiously outrageous movie that will be talked about as one of the best moments in the X-Men franchise. And rightly so.
