Whenever Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them was first announced, there was rampant speculation over what the plot of the film might actually be. This is because the book that Beasts is based on has basically no narrative, and is instead a collection of fictional magical creatures and their various descriptions and properties.

When it was announced that the film would be set in New York City, then, a rumour began circulating that the film would detail Newt's time at the American equivalent of Hogwarts, following him as he attempted to integrate with American students.

This rumour solidified when J.K. Rowling released information about the American wizarding school IIvermorny, including the fact that it also sorts its pupils into four houses: Thunderbird, Wampus, Horned Serpent and Pukwudgie.

In the end, however, it transpired that IIvermorny is actually located in Massachusetts.
