Given that it's set for release this November, Harry Potter fans have probably been wondering why we haven't seen a bit more of upcoming spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Look no further: a new teaser trailer has landed, and - excuse the pun - it's fantastic!

For a lot of Potter fans, it's been somewhat difficult to know how to feel about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them up 'til now; on the one hand, it's another movie in the Harry Potter franchise... sometimes you just have to leave things alone. On the other hand... it's another movie in the Harry Potter franchise, and how amazing is that?

Still, for anyone still caught in that "should this be happening?" mindset, the latest teaser trailer, which runs at over two minutes and reveals a ton of new information about the plot for Fantastic Beasts, might well convince you that it needs to exist (save for a few niggling doubts, of course).

The trailer opens with the news that Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has been kicked out of Hogwarts for "endangering human life with a beast," and yet - despite Albus Dumbledore's attempts to keep him in school - he's moved to New York to start afresh. Before long he's caught up in a series of escalating incidents (and an awkward moment at passport control).

Firstly, it must be said that - from a strictly visual perspective - Fantastic Beasts looks incredible. The American setting, which could have been jarring given that Harry Potter is a very English series, appears fresh and exciting and doesn't feel at odds with the magical setting.

Even Colin Farrell - who presumably provides that initial narration at the start of the teaser - doesn't look out place, which is a big surprise.

So what were those concerns I mentioned? Well, for starters, I'm a bit worried about Eddie Redmayne here; he looks to be giving yet another one of his trademark quivering performances, and it would've been more interesting, perhaps, had he played it differently. You know, in a less quivering manner. He took quivering to its zenith in both Jupiter Ascending and The Danish Girl, after all.

There's also the teaser's use of John William's Harry Potter theme, which feels oddly out of place despite its association with the series; even the Harry Potter films avoided using it in the last few films, so it's weird to hear it in the context of a spin-off film - it's Harry's theme, not Newt's.

Otherwise, though, this appears to be shaping up to be an interesting flick. Thankfully, this teaser gives me a lot more confidence in it than I had initially (though there was nowhere near enough Katherine Waterson).
